I came across this chair at a thrift store over the weekend and I immediately fell in love with it! It was painted beige, there wasn’t really anything special about it, but I could tell it had a lot of potential.
- Annie Sloan Chalk Paint (Emperor’s Silk–100 ml pot)
- Annie Sloan Clear Wax
- Annie Sloan Dark Wax
- Annie Sloan paint brush (You can use any paint brush you want)
- Rags from an old t-shirt for waxing
I painted the chair with 2 coats of Emperor’s Silk which used up the whole 100 ml pot.
Once the paint dried, I distressed the chair (a lot) with medium grit sandpaper to give it a really worn look.
I wiped the chair down again after I was done sanding. Then I applied a thin coat of clear wax.
After the wax wasn’t sticky to the touch anymore, I applied a thin layer of dark wax to give it an even more aged look.
I let that sit overnight. I wanted to look at it with fresh eyes in the morning just in case it needed more distressing or wax. But it didn’t! It’s perfect and I’m loving this new addition to my living room!
This was an easy weekend project and perfect if you’re new to Chalk Paint and want to give it a try.
